WHEREAS, in the words of President Abraham Lincoln, it is the duty of everyone on the homefront "to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow and his orphan;" and,

WHEREAS, thousands of members of the United States Armed Forces are now serving their country and risking their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the Global War on Terror; and,

WHEREAS, those brave men and women often leave behind beloved family members who share in their sacrifice and who may find themselves in need of support as they wait for their heroes to return home; and,

WHEREAS, many people throughout the Land of Lincoln have demonstrated their heartfelt support for our troops through their spontaneous, unwavering generosity toward our veterans and military families, helping them to get through difficult times and letting them know that the people of Illinois honor and respect them for their patriotism and willingness to sacrifice for our shared freedom; and,

WHEREAS, these Homefront Heroes set a shining example for everyone in their communities, showing that everyday people who are inspired to take action can make an extraordinary difference in this world;

THEREFORE, I, Pat Quinn, Lt. Governor of the State of Illinois, hereby commend and salute Central IL Proud Families of Marines as a Homefront Hero for their patriotism, community spirit and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty to support our brave troops and their families.
